Derek Simonsen Honored at Buena Vista University

Derek Simonsen , a biology major from Quimby , was honored at Buena Vista University's annual Student Recognition Dinner on April 29.

Simonsen received the following recognition:

Simonsen received an Academic Excellence Award as a fourth year student. This Academic Excellence Award is given to students on the Storm Lake campus whose cumulative GPA is 3.75 or greater, representing approximately the top 10% of each class.

Simonsen was recognized as a senior of the year for the School of Science in all science.

Simonsen was recognized for being a member of BVU's Honors Program, which encourages students to develop their academic talents beyond the regular curriculumt through specialized courses and an extensive research project.
