Elizabeth Kim Honored at Buena Vista University

Elizabeth Kim , a biology and Spanish major from Fairmont , was honored at Buena Vista University's annual Student Recognition Dinner on April 29.

Kim received the following recognition:

Kim received an Academic Excellence Award as a fourth year student. This Academic Excellence Award is given to students on the Storm Lake campus whose cumulative GPA is 3.75 or greater, representing approximately the top 10% of each class.

Kim received a Student Organization Leader award for her role in Sigma Delta Pi, one of more than 57 organizations available on campus. These leaders provide guidance and motivation to their clubs and attend campus-wide meetings to share knowledge and build skills. BVU's many active student organizations represent a wide variety of interests, social causes and disciplines.

Kim was recognized as a senior of the year for the School of Communication & Arts in Spanish.

Kim was recognized as a senior of the year for the School of Science in biology.

Kim was awarded the Student Leader of the Year Award, an award given annually to two students who have made significant contributions to the quality of life on campus and have demonstrated exemplary leadership skills.

Kim was acknowledged as a finalist for the Senior of the Year Award. This award is presented annually by the Buena Vista Alumni Association. The award recognizes an academically talented senior who has demonstrated leadership and service to the University community.

Kim was recognized for being a member of BVU's Honors Program, which encourages students to develop their academic talents beyond the regular curriculumt through specialized courses and an extensive research project.
