2016 Jun 13

Jaelyn Daggs-Olson, a junior chemistry major from Eldora, was recently honored at Buena Vista University's student recognition event.

Daggs-Olson received the following recognition:

Daggs-Olson received an Academic Excellence Award as a third year student. This Academic Excellence Award is given to students on the Storm Lake campus whose cumulative GPA is 3.75 or greater, representing approximately the top 10% of each class. She also received the Stine Fellowship Award which is given annually to exceptional science students to enhance their educational and professional development opportunities. Mr. Harry Stine, a longtime friend of the university, generously established this endowment in 2014 to promote creative opportunities for science students. Lastly, Daggs-Olson received the Clifford A. Rae Academic Achievement Award, an award given annually to Harold Walter Siebens School of Business and nine School of Science majors. Eligible students are from Iowa or a contiguous state and must meet specific financial need qualifications. Students are invited to apply and compete, and winners are determined on the basis of grade-point average. Clifford Rae was a long-serving advisor to Dr. Harold Walter Siebens and Executive Director of the Siebens Family Foundation. This generous award can be used by the winners for approved academic purposes, such as student research, interim travel, internship accommodations, graduate school applications, certification examinations, or upon graduation, payment of student loans.
