Jaelyn Olson Honored at Buena Vista University

Jaelyn Olson , a chemistry major from Eldora , was honored at Buena Vista University's annual Student Recognition Dinner on April 29.

Olson received the following recognition:

Olson received an Academic Excellence Award as a fourth year student. This Academic Excellence Award is given to students on the Storm Lake campus whose cumulative GPA is 3.75 or greater, representing approximately the top 10% of each class.

Olson was nominated for inclusion in Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. Selection is based on outstanding scholastic, campus and community activities.

Olson received the Stine Fellowship Award which is given annually to exceptional students to enhance their educational and professional development opportunities. Mr. Harry Stine, a longtime friend of the university, generously established this endowment in 2014 to promote creative opportunities for science students.

This year's BVU Parents of the Year were Jacqueline Daggs and Michael Olson, nominated by Olson. The Parents of the Year award is given annually to parents who represent qualities so many of BVU's great parents embody, including support and dedication to their student's pursuits.

Olson was recognized for being a member of BVU's Honors Program, which encourages students to develop their academic talents beyond the regular curriculumt through specialized courses and an extensive research project.
