Madeleine McCormick 's Audio Story to Broadcast on Iowa Radio Program

2017 Nov 17

Iowa Watch Connection, a weekly statewide news and public affairs radio program, will broadcast a 20-minute investigative audio story produced by Buena Vista University student, Madeleine McCormick , Nov. 24-26.

McCormick's story, "Politics of Fear: What Are We So Afraid Of? Immigration," examines proposed changes in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy.

"It felt rewarding to learn of my appearance on Iowa Watch," said McCormick, who is a senior digital media major from Huxley. "I chose to analyze how political rhetoric contributes to fear, and how that fear of living in your country shapes individuals and their stories. I'm not looking for a solution to the fears surrounding immigration, race, and sexuality in my three-episode series, but rather to uncover all perspectives of the fear and dissolve misunderstandings."

The Iowa Watch Connection airs on 19 radio stations across Iowa, reaching listeners across the state as well as parts of Iowa's seven neighboring states.
