Schlichte received an Academic Excellence Award as a third year student. This Academic Excellence Award is given to students on the Storm Lake campus whose cumulative GPA is 3.75 or greater, representing approximately the top 10% of each class. She was nominated for inclusion in Who's Who Among Colleges and University Students in America. Selection is based on academic achievements, campus leadership and faculty recommendations. She also received the Clifford A. Rae Academic Achievement Award, an award given annually Harold Walter Siebens School of Business and nine School of Science majors. Eligible students are from Iowa or a contiguous state and must meet specific financial need qualifications. Students are invited to apply and compete, and winners are determined on the basis of grade-point average. This generous award can be used by the winners for approved academic purposes, such as student research, interim travel, internship accommodations, graduate school applications, certification examinations, or upon graduation, payment of student loans.
