Students from the Buena Vista University (BVU) computer science department competed against each other and students from additional schools during BVU's fifth annual virtual Capture the Flag (CTF) computer security contest on April 8.

A team of six Buena Vista University students took first place in the Group 2 bracket of BVU's fourth annual Capture the Flag computer security contest on April 16.

Four Buena Vista University students from the natural science and computer science departments won a $1,000 award from BVU's Stine Endowment on March 11 for a mobile app they developed and presented during an on-campus competition.

On Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, Buena Vista University announced their 2014 Homecoming king and queen, Ian Grigsby, a senior mathematics major from Omaha, Nebraska, and Beth Weber, a senior biology major from Danbury. The coronation came after a week of Homecoming festivities on campus.
